This Storm - God's Tool

So many times I have misunderstood, or not even realized that there was a purpose for times of storm/uncomfortable and even painful times in my life. To use the word 'misunderstood' is a bit on the lite side of where I actually find my attitude during a storm. The range of my emotion is almost unlimited. I have gone through all the usual feelings: abandonment, humiliation, loss, fear, anger, bewilderment, etc. I'm sure that you can identify... right?

So at what point do those feelings change? For me, it's usually in the hindsight phase. You know, after some of what I've faced begins to make sense. I am not yet adept at plugging into my well of faith and positivity during the big middle of a heavy, heated storm. God knows me well though and without fail, He will send one of his faithful servants to speak truth, truth of the matter, truth about the storm, into my spririt. I'm so grateful to Him!

If you are a Christ follower and you are facing a storm, in the middle of a storm, or coming out the other side of a stormy season - let this be your reminder about the purpose of the storm.  Romans 8:28 opens it up nicely for us. I personally love to look at The Message as a commentary, take a moment and look at verses 26-28, which end with this, "we can be so sure that every detail in our lives of love for God is worked into something good." YES!!! Also, the NIV reads like this, "And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who [a]love him, who[b] have been called according to his purpose." See those qualifiers? Check your "Love HIM" and "Called" positions, don't hesitate to make adjustments if necessary... get in position!

Looking back I can see that God often allows trouble in my life to prune, hone, and keep me maliable in His hand. Were I not so stubborn or opinionated, this may not be the case. Yet, here I am edging up on 40 years on this planet called Earth and I may be slightly less stubborn and opinionated than 25 years ago... maybe.

So while I may travel the gamit of emotions during a storm, the one thing that I can declare about my experience in times of storm is this: my trust is in the LORD. His strong and mighty hand is my deliverance. He is faithful and He will see me through to the other side of any storm! It is not my responsibility to predict and worry over the outcomes... my responsibility is simple obedience to Him and staying in the "love Him" and "called" position.

Be assured, rightly placing trust in God, the maker of Heaven & Earth, is a good place to be - especially in times of storm. I will be glad to agree with you in prayer, feel free to list prayer needs below or DM me through Facebook; we will stand together in prayer and trust!

Happy Memorial Day

My focus this year is to pray for the families that are grieving the loss(es) of loved ones for the mission and vision of freedom. Will you join me in lifting these families, whether known or unknown to you, before the Lord?

With GOD...

This verse shows us a contrast between the human perspective and that which is visible to God. It is likely that this young ruler felt that he was good and saw himself as living a life of honor to God. Likely, he was respected by his community and enjoyed good relationships. He was, after all, in a leadership role that pointed people to God. Yet, God was able to see what he and others could not see hidden deep within his heart.  We should applaud this leader's courage. Not many would have approached Jesus to ask for such accountability. Whether this leader asked to receive kudos, or if he asked because he could sense he was missing something, when Jesus pointed out what he could do he left sorrowful. Perhaps his desire to protect and shield himself through his wealth was overwhelmingly important. Understandable, right? Whatever the case, this leader walked away in sorrow instead of surrender. Isn't it something how badly the truth can cause us to employ various defenses? We ...
