Don't Settle!

Don't Settle!

For more than two decades I took the posture of student, intentionally leaning in to learn and glean from wise leaders in my life. Some welcomed this and quickly put me to work with opportunities and responsibilities that helped grow and mature me. Others were put off by my interest and inquisitive nature. A few along the way seemed to feel tasked with keeping me "in my place" and they were quite good at belittling and overlooking me. To be fair, I learned as much from the later as the former. The later taught me who I didn't want to be while the former taught me, showed me, really, who I wanted to become. Oh, I thank God for them all!! Each experience has held value!

Despite the cold shoulder received in various settings, I saw opportunity to develop and share what God had placed within me. So, I worked, collaborated, served, taught, filled-in, and waited for those in charge to open the glass ceiling. It was discouraging and disheartening at times, and I came really close to giving up. I came very close to giving in to a life of easy, predictable mediocrity.

Experiencing life today, I'm so thankful that the Lord didn't let me give up!

I know He's not done working with me. There's more to learn, and experience, and more to give and many to serve. This is definitely a benchmark season in my journey though, and I am so grateful!!

Thank you, Lord, for Your faithful hand of blessing and guidance. Keep me faithful, Lord, in this season of celebration and joy. 🙏🏻🕊❤️‍🔥

Happy Memorial Day

My focus this year is to pray for the families that are grieving the loss(es) of loved ones for the mission and vision of freedom. Will you join me in lifting these families, whether known or unknown to you, before the Lord?

With GOD...

This verse shows us a contrast between the human perspective and that which is visible to God. It is likely that this young ruler felt that he was good and saw himself as living a life of honor to God. Likely, he was respected by his community and enjoyed good relationships. He was, after all, in a leadership role that pointed people to God. Yet, God was able to see what he and others could not see hidden deep within his heart.  We should applaud this leader's courage. Not many would have approached Jesus to ask for such accountability. Whether this leader asked to receive kudos, or if he asked because he could sense he was missing something, when Jesus pointed out what he could do he left sorrowful. Perhaps his desire to protect and shield himself through his wealth was overwhelmingly important. Understandable, right? Whatever the case, this leader walked away in sorrow instead of surrender. Isn't it something how badly the truth can cause us to employ various defenses? We ...
